CLAIRE DEMPSEY (CHAIR)
 
Claire has been a volunteer since 2014 and a Trustee since 2016, she is our current Chair. 
With Claire's previous teaching and management experience in further and higher educational settings, she brings a range of skills to the Board.

She has lived in Arleston since 2012 and has had many roles at Arleston Community Centre. Claire is keen to ensure the centre continues to be a viable community asset. It's important to her that ACC is welcoming to a diverse range of groups and hirers.

Claire hopes the centre will continue to host a variety of events and bring residents together.

Reg became an Arleston Town Councillor in May 2023 and was delighted to be invited to be a Trustee of the Centre and elected as Vice Chair in 2024. Whilst new to the Centre, he has been impressed by the facilities and the community activities that are run within it. 

He worked as a management lecturer at Telford College for 20 years and then ran a training company until retirement. Reg has previously been  involved in the local community as a school governor for 40 years and hopes to use his experience to assist in helping to support the Centre

After moving into the area from north Birmingham in September 2021 Marie has enjoyed getting involved as a volunteer, a trustee and the Treasurer, at the community centre. Her hobbies include many crafts, including sewing, crochet, macrame to name a few. She loves to try something new and the craft group here is the ideal place. The film club is also something she looks forward to on the last Friday in the month.

Venisa has been a trustee since 2024. She is the secretary of Arleston Community Centre.
She is enthusiastic about bringing the best to and having an impact on the local community and she believes in encouraging people to participate in local events to help them feel valued and boost community cohesion. Venisa is proud to be able to participate and play a role in positive change.

Emma joined the board of Trustees at Arleston in October 2022 and is responsible for all bookings at the centre.  She is a Councillor for Arleston on Wellington Town Council and also works full time as a Global Recruiter.  She has lived in Telford for most of her life, having grown up and gone to school in Wellington, so has great admiration for our town and local communities.  As a Mom of 2, Emma is keen to ensure there is more support and facilities for young people and women in our communities.

ANGELA MCCLEMENTS

Angela grew up in Arleston and has been the Telford & Wrekin Councillor for Arleston since 2007.  She was instrumental in saving Arleston Community Centre from closure in 2016, setting up a Trustees Group made up of resident & volunteers ensuring that Arleston Community Centre remained open for the local community of Arleston & volunteer groups.  She is responsible for grant funding and volunteers and has been successful in bringing in funding to ensure that the Centre thrives.  Angela is also Chair of Arleston Residents Group and the successful Arleston Memories Group which she started in 2010. One of her key priorities for the Centre was to set up a youth club and working with Cllr Lee Carter she was delighted to get this started in November 2024.

 Martin has been a volunteer for a number of years and a Trustee since 2018. He runs Arleston Film Club and helps out at events. Martin is involved with the practical routine tasks and the day to day running of the centre.

Joan has been a Wellington Town Councillor for Arleston for over 10 years. During this time, she has been Secretary of Arleston Residents Group and a member of the Arleston Memories team. She enjoys talking to residents and try to encourage new groups to meet and use the facilities of our wonderful Community Centre. It is good to see young people using the Centre and also to be part of a successful Group allowing older people to meet and exchange Memories of growing up in Arleston.

Salman is thrilled to be a trustee for ACC. He recently completed a degree, and is excited to return to Arleston and give back to the community. He is eager to roll up his sleeves and make a positive impact before his next big adventure. Salman believes in the power of community, and can’t wait to contribute to the wonderful initiatives at ACC.
